Skippers

Skippers manage a boat’s profile and team. This access follows the boat across races; you do not need a separate crew list for each series.

Find your boat

Sign in at Account using the invited email address and open My boats. Open the boat to see its profile and participation in shared series.

If an organiser already created the boat, ask for access to that existing record. Creating a second copy separates its history.

Accept access or a handover

For ordinary team access, existing verified accounts receive access immediately and an email notification. New people receive an invitation to sign in, verify their email, and accept.

A boat handover is different: the recipient must explicitly accept responsibility, even if they already have an account. Until acceptance, access stays unchanged. After acceptance, the previous custodian loses boat access; their series permissions stay unchanged.

The responsible skipper can arrange a later handover through Manage boat access. Simply signing in does not transfer responsibility.

Edit the boat and add crew

Open the boat’s edit view to update its name, class, length, weight, and colour. The colour is used for its map track.

In Manage boat access, enter an email and choose:

  • Skipper for someone who should manage the boat profile and team.
  • Crew for someone who should participate in tracking.

Use Grant access or invite. If email delivery fails after access was saved, use the retry notification control. Review pending invitations and revoke ones that are no longer needed.

Boat access does not let you edit series settings or official results. Race registration is handled by the organisers.

Prepare race tracking

Open Veetr on your phone, sign in with the same account, and open Races. Select your boat and race and follow the readiness instructions. Allow the requested location permissions; background location is needed to continue recording while the screen is locked.

The referee must open tracking and the boat must have an eligible published heat entry. Being on the crew list alone does not make a boat’s location public.

A race invitation is an alternative for a temporary race phone. See Crew.
