Race management

Veetr connects race organisers, sailors, and spectators. You can use race management without owning a Veetr Vane: a phone can provide GPS tracking.

Open race management or browse public races.

Which role do I need?

Role What you can do Guide
Series manager Configure an assigned series, races, heats, fleet, scoring, and its officials; also run racing. Series managers
Referee Manage heat entries and results, share results, and control race tracking in an assigned series. Referees
Skipper Manage a boat’s profile and team, and participate in its race tracking. Skippers
Crew Participate in tracking for a boat you belong to. Crew
Spectator View shared standings, live maps, and available replays. Spectators
Administrator Manage users and access across Veetr, with authenticator verification. Administrators

Roles can overlap. Being a skipper does not grant permission to edit race results. Being a referee does not grant permission to manage users. Series roles apply to the assigned series; boat roles apply to the boat across the races it enters.

Series, races, and heats

A series groups races, such as a season championship. A race contains one or more heats. Record finishes in a heat; race standings combine its heats, and series standings combine race scores.

The series fleet is the pool of boats available to enter races. Adding someone to a boat’s crew is separate from registering that boat to compete.

Sign in and find your work

Open Account, enter your email, and follow the sign-in email. Use the address that received your invitation. My series and My boats are the starting points for your own items. Open an assigned series through race management.

Public viewing does not require an account. A race-phone invitation can also let a sailor join one race without an account; it does not grant permanent boat or series management access.

Before race day

Agree on categories, race starting points, discards, and responsibility for recording finishes. Test one phone and the public map together before the fleet leaves. See Scoring and results for the scoring model.
