Crew

Crew access lets you participate in tracking for a boat across its races. It does not let you manage the boat’s team, change its profile, configure a series, or edit official results.

Join your boat

Ask a skipper to add your email as Crew in the boat’s access page. Existing verified accounts receive access and a notification; otherwise, follow the invitation to verify your email and accept.

Sign in with that same email in the Veetr mobile app. You can also find the boat under Account → My boats.

Get ready to race

  1. Open Races in the mobile app and refresh the available races.
  2. Select the correct boat and race.
  3. Follow the readiness instructions and allow location access.
  4. Check that your phone is ready and has a GPS position.
  5. Keep Veetr open if background GPS is unavailable.

The organisers register the boat and publish the relevant heat. The referee opens live tracking. Until those conditions are met, a ready phone can remain waiting.

Coordinate with the skipper about which phone will report the boat’s position. Do not take over reporting from another phone unless the team intends to switch devices.

Use a series-phone invitation

If the organiser sends a series invitation, open it in Veetr and choose Connect phone to series. You only need to pair once for that boat and series, and no account is required. Pairing alone does not start GPS or publish your location.

Choose a published race and press Ready to race when you are ready. After a race finishes and its recording finishes syncing, return to Regattas → Share boat location to choose the next race. Your phone stays paired, so you do not need another link.

Keep the link private. It connects one phone to your boat for this series until the organiser revokes it or the boat leaves the series. Ask the organiser to replace it if you switch phones. Older race-only invitations still work only for their original race.

This connection does not make you a permanent skipper or crew member and grants no boat-editing or scoring access. Ask the skipper for boat access if you need to manage the boat or participate in other series.

If positions stop updating

Check GPS reception, location permissions, connectivity, and whether the referee paused tracking. Follow the app’s message if it asks you to keep the screen open or allow background location. A phone being ready is not the same as live publication being enabled.
